Always important, or sometimes seen as a thing of vanity as well, Backlinks (often referred to as Back Links in the UK), are one way incoming links to a web page.
In SEO back links are not something you can just put in place, and are not something that a website owner or SEO firm has an awful lot of control over. An SEO backlink is decided by the search engine providers.
To help aid the process of compiling more back-links to a website, link building is the main source and application required. Back-links are a result of SEO, not something that optimization firms just implement.
The frustrating part of one way permanent SEO back-links is that they come and go without an awful lot of explanation, and there is no real timescale or method applied to when they appear. The more popular a website, the more chance there is of a backlink appearing, and this seems to be a result of the search providers preferring well established sites. This gives them more comfort in offering backlinks to a site, which in turn aids the process of rising in the search results.
In summation back links are extremely valuable to a web page in creating a theme for key phrase targeting. The best way to be successful in creating them is to work hard on link building and making sure the anchor text and donor website are relevant to the target URL.
