Many times we are asked, when approached by a potential client, how much is costs for the service we offer. The next question is always ‘how long?’.

It’s inevitable that any business owner will need to look at the costs over time that an SEO campaign will mean to his cash flow. Here we look at some of the basics of the SEO Timeline which shows exactly why it takes time to implement SEO in a professional manner.

The first month of SEO work is nearly always made up of planning the campaign in a manageable way. There are many aspects to consider and every campaign is different, so to get the plan right is imperative. Getting started and well into a few months of work, and then deciding the direction is not quite right, would be costly.

Also in the first 4 weeks, selection of social media websites and other high profile, popular websites should be used to generate unique content and permanent back-links. At the same time begins the generation of website owner or 3rd party scripted content, to be applied to the site at a later date in a set fashion.

Then the hard work  and bulk submissions start, and can take up to 24 months for major e-commerce platforms, although most sites for locally targeted phrases are approximately 6-9 months in length.
